According to National Retail Federation’s recent Independence Day Survey, conducted by BIGresearch, millions of celebrants will be wearing patriotic clothing, watching fireworks, attending parades, or hosting a cookout during the 3-day weekend holiday.
Despite high gas prices, more families are also planning on traveling or taking a vacation this year. Packing up their beach gear, sunscreen, visors, flip flops and shorts, an estimated 31 million people will be heading out for a summer getaway, up from 27 million who did this last year for the 4th.
A renewed sense of national pride has set the stage for consumers to increase buying of patriotic merchandise. Flags, patriotic apparel, and patriotic home décor are among products that are expected to boost sales dramatically, great news for retailers!
