When preparing to issue credits, most CP SQL users will obtain two sets of pre-printed cards. One for use as Gift Certificates and one for use as Store Credits. Doing this essentially allows you to go paperless for both of these functions.
Some of you may not be aware that CP SQL allows combining Gift Certificates and Store Credits. Then only one physical card type is required for both functions. Doing this allows you to save money by using one generic card that can be used for both purposes.. This also means that only one redemption pay code is required at the register for both functions. At payment tender time, this means that the POS clerk doesn't have to sort out whether the generic card is either a Gift Certificate or a Store Credit. This dramatically reduces the overall transaction time required at the register.
Making this work requires a combination configuration settings in both the CP SQL Set-up and in the Touch Screen Configuration.
