CounterPoint Version 7.5.X allows you to set-up and use coupons.  Bar code numbers can be assigned to specific coupons that have been created with specific predefined percentages or dollar values (e.g. 10%, 15%, $1.00, $2.00, etc.).

Additionally, you can create your own graphical coupons using many common software programs such as MS Word, MS Publisher, Crystal Reports, etc.  Example fields from the coupon items that you could bar code would be:

• The Coupon ID (e.g. COUP10, COUP15)
• The bar code number associated with a specific coupon (e.g. 123456, COUP10, etc.).
• An alpha/numeric serial number associated with a specific coupon (e.g. 1033043, SEA123456, etc.).
• Any combination or all of the above could be done for a single coupon.

The main issue that you would have is in obtaining a "TrueType" alpha/numeric bar code (Code 39) that would be compatible with your coupon creation program, and your printer.  This would be so that the bar code number/value could be expressed as an actual bar code.  Some label printing programs may provide these non-native windows fonts.  If this is not available to you, there are other sources where you can download and install this type of font.  Some are free, and some are fee based.  An example of one freeware location is:

You could also use other utilities such as Adobe Acrobat to create a PDF file with the bar codes embedded into the document.  This would allow for a portable document that could be printed by any printer that supports TrueType fonts.  This could then be emailed (as either an attachment or as an embedded image) to existing customers and prospects.  These coupons could be used at your registers, with the clerks simply scanning in the coupon as if it were a normal line item.
